Smart Mouths Podcast

In the spirit of the holiday season, the Smart Mouths hosts are in a giving mood.  It doesn’t matter if you celebrate Chanukah, Kwanzaa or that commercial holiday where you put up a tree with lights and wait for a fat man who is flown around by reindeer to come down your chimney and steal your milk and cookies.  We don’t judge.  In fact, all you need is some creativity and we know our listeners have that (unless of course you are Canadian, in which case you are immediately disqualified from entry).

We’re running a contest to give away one (1) t-shirt to a very lucky listener.  So you must be asking yourself, how can I have such blessed luck and good fortune bestowed upon myself?  Simple: we want you to come up with the most creative image you can that includes the Smart Mouths t-shirt.  For inspiration, please see the photo to the right depicting America’s first-elected black President and (more importantly) frequent Smart Mouths contributor Barack Obama.  You may use Photoshop, pen and paper, even blood (though highly discouraged, unless Canadian).

The deadline for entry is Sunday, December 20 at 11:59 p.m. PST.  Please submit all entries as attached .jpg files with the following dimensions (350×400) to smartmouthspodcast@gmail.com.  The contest is open to ALL of our listeners around the world. See Canadians, we really do love you!  Participants may enter as many times as is humanly possible to press the “Send” button.

The hosts will choose the top 3 entries and let you vote on who you think should get the grand prize.  We’ll award the runners up some signed album art.  All the entries will be featured on our site in the weeks following the end of the contest.

Happy 24th Birthday to our favorite Mickey Mouse impersonator Matt! Matt has proven to be an invaluable member of the Smart Mouths team. Between his incredible pop cultural knowledge (especially in the area of film), sharp wit, fast humor, and knack for sarcasm in ALL the right places, our show would definitely not be the same without him. Who else amongst us warrants a combined 33 pages of speculation on the forums (Matt, please just tell us what kind of muffins you like already!)?

So let’s all raise our glasses to celebrate with Matt who is a great podcaster, entertainer and friend to us all. Happy Birthday!!

That’s riiiight! Our favorite WTF News anchor turns 27 today! Micah’s been winning over our hearts with his subtle wit and uncanny knack for finding the most bizarre news stories since the show’s first episode, and we simply don’t know what the fuck we’d do without him.

So thank you, Micah, for being such a true friend – both to the show and to us – and for sending off every Smart Mouths episode in style. We love ya!

In an attempt to help the State of California end its financial woes, the Smart Mouths crew will be headed out to San Francisco next week. This may have you wondering…what about Episode 23? Well, we’re not entirely sure. We’ve had a few ideas floating around, and there is a strong possibility we will put something cool together during our time there. As far as it being an actual episode… Let’s just pretend we’re on re-runs for next week and we’ll have a brand-spanking new episode for you recorded on July 26.

In addition, while we’re out there we’ll be signing some pretty sweet album art. Thanks once again to everyone who has donated!

We hope this post finds you enjoying a relaxing Memorial Day weekend. As we announced on episode #15 last week, we’re taking this week off and thought we’d leave a reminder here so no one feels left out to dry! We know it sucks, but never fear – we’ll be back better than ever next week. Better yet, you can use whatever time you’d have previously set aside for listening to a new episode to participate at the Official Smart Mouths forum. Or you could wallow in sorrow at missing WTF News this week, but I think the former would probably be more fun and productive!
