My experience with 9/11 was that I was in 4th grade. I went to class normally, but a little before noon, teachers kept coming in and talking to our teacher, who incidentally was Australian but had a sister working in New York around the trade centre. We had no idea what it was, but after awhile our teacher just stopped class and told us. She was frantic trying to get her sister on the phone but the lines were all down, but she was a great teacher, so she got out maps and showed us where the buildings were and explained it to us as much as possible.
I also live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Halifax and a little town in Newfoundland called Gander was the main stops where all the planes detoured to, and I wasn’t at the airport, but it was chaos. They were asking people to take in total strangers so that thousands of people off these planes could have a place to stay for a day or two.
I was also just in the middle of reading Philosopher’s Stone with my family for the very first time, so we got an extra treat that night and read more chapters than we were usually allowed.
It was a crazy day.

Hey guys! I love your show but I just had a small comment to make. Laura’s and Eliza’s statement saying that the Tea Parties taking place do not have any historical similarities to current events is, in my opinion, inaccurate. When Republicans in are as outnumbered in congress as they are now, the democrat party controls the house, it pretty much DOES mean that Republicans have NO representation.
And just one more note, please stop saying that anyone who doesn’t agree with you is an idiot. Stop being so close-minded

What about Glee?? I was waiting for you all to bring it up during the tv discussion, but it never came up! It’s really a great show, (don’t let the high school musicalness put you off, it is SO much better) and I recommend it wholeheartedly to all of you.
Anyway, love the show! Currently Micah is my favorite, but it changes weekly.

Awsome podcast, I really love the show but I just wanted to say a little something. So I can’t remember if it was Lauren or Eliza who said that the Nazis were facists but I was told from my teacher that the Nazis were in fact socialists which you were talking about. I don’t know if the Nazis might have been a mixture of the two but I thought I would throw that out there.

Hey Guys and Gals
I just wanted to say that I loved the show. I was listening to Episode 30 : Tea Baggers and in your topic on health care/ politics you guys discussed Congressman Joe Wilson’s “You lie” comment during the President’s speech. I think it was Micah who said that it could be brought on by racism, and Penny who didn’t think it was a racist comment. It was Penny, sorry but true. First off never ever has anyone spoken out against a president during a speech to Congress. Think Congress has discussed health care before to an all white group of presidents. I’m sure as Hell that there was a lie in their speeches too, but no one ever called them out. Say it with me Manners and Decorum. The way Wilson said “You lie”, besides it broken English, was going back to the “You lie, boy, now tell Massa the truth” sayings. Wilson is only known for wanting to keep the Confederate flag flying over his state capital. A Character Examination is in order. Second, and I can’t believe the Political Bitches didn’t catch this, is that the Political Parties were founded on racism. Lets go back to 1862 and the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by Lincoln. Lincoln was a Republican and when he freed the slaves, white people who owned slaves and those that wanted to, turned Democratic when the war ended. And Blacks voted Republican because of Lincoln and what he did for them. Until the 1960s when again race was the issue of the Civil Rights Movement. Kennedy and later Johnson spoke of equal rights for all, and again it was white southerners that want to keep the Jim Crow laws. (there is a place in Mississippi still today where teens go to the black prom or the white prom) Since Kennedy and LBJ were Democratic, blacks and whites switched parties again. Penny is right that not all republicans are racist but their history is very clear on what they stand on being a powerful rich all white party. History shows us where we came from and where we are going if we are not careful of what we do NOW in the present. With all these protest of Hitler Obama, Voodoo Obama, and nooses of Pelosi and others we are headed for dark times. Do you see any more than three persons of color at any of the protest. That right there should send a red flag to America. Nooses are to black people as gas chambers are to Jews. They have a way of defining a nation. If it get as bad as I hope it does not, I will be taking a leaf out of Bill Maher book before Obama was elected. I’m thinking Canada or England. What say you?
Thanks for reading,
Yinx
And I recommend The Confederate States of America DVD

Hey Guys,
I always love the show, but I had a couple of “listener rebuttals” this week. First I just wanted to support Kayla’s comment that the Nazi part was in fact a National Socialist Party. Also, I love Heroes… I know, seasons 2 and 3 really weren’t the greatest, but season 1 was so good that I still watch with some hope that it will return to its previous splendour.

Just a quick note about Greg’s comment about growing up in the 80’s. I too recall thinking it was a foregone conclusion that we would experience a nuclear war. I always think of the video done for Phil Colin’s band Genesis; Land of Confusion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oepXF2B5NK4

I really love watching heroes, it started from boring into a very good tv show now. For the first few eps, I was like, its just an xmen . But now its exciting, hope the new season will be out sooner.
