Episode 5 Issues
by Penny on Mar.10, 2009, under Updates
UPDATE: We know what and where the issues are (thank you for everyone who sent in time stamps, suggestions, etc). We attempted to re-edit but unfortunately the file was lost. We can only assume that it wasn’t meant to be. We will say that you missed some great parts- especially when Matt cursed Greg out for disagreeing with him about Watchmen and when Micah told us about his famous super model girlfriend who is originally from Sudan(youtube video to follow). Sorry
Once again, we do appreciate all of your patience with this episode and believe us when we say that we are more disappointed about the chunks missing than you are. We will do our best to uphold the quality you have come to appreciate in both Smart Mouths and the other podcasts we do. To paraphrase from SouthWest Airlines, we realize you have a choice of podcasts to listen to, we appreciate that you chose us.

Seriously though. What a nice episode. Completely interesting and fun. And Matt, you were so hilarious (even when you were on mute!). I laughed out loud 3 times today because of this podcast. What a joy.

Holy crap, you guys just don’t stop being so awesome. I listened for the first time tonight and I just posted a review on itunes. I can’t believe it took me this long, not only are you guys great to listen to, you bring up good points and are just.. fucking hilarious, but its great to hear so strongly yours views and opinions on the things going on in the world, and from people around my age group. You aren’t afraid to say exactly what you feel and think and that’s just so refreshing. Please please PLEASE keep the episodes coming.

Yeah I did notice the audioproblem, but it was not that bad! I freaked out when I thought my mp3-player was dying!
haha
NICE show! Loved it, especially the dandelion-part! I’m going to start using that!
love and dandelions to all of you

Guys, I was going to send you the time-stamps for where editing problems are – I’ll send it to you this afternoon. I was going to send it but then I saw the note about you guys being aware of the mistakes and trying to fix them.

I decided to put this episode on my iPod today and entertainment myself during study, and I kinda regret doing it, but doing worry, I regret in a way that I don’t truly regret it. I found myself literally laughing out loud at parts, and I literally forgot I was in the middle of study hall for a few minutes, until I noticed the weird stares from others. My school makes study hall mandatory, and for someone like me, who never uses it, it’s great to have a way to enjoy that 1 1/2 of time! You guys rock! Keep up the good work!

March 11th, 2009 on 5:24 AM
I have 20 minutes of the podcast to go but I must must MUST thank you for making me looking like a laugh twit at work (blame the Obama speech – youtube Obama saying that! PLEASE!).
Please, I haven’t read Watchmen but I watched the film. it was, probably, the randomess film I have EVER seen!

there are definitely parts of conversations missing, it’s not just gaps between people talking. there was one part where i think everyone was talking about watchmen that is missing and then another part where i think penny was talking and then someone(maybe greg?) started to talk, but i couldn’t hear them and then when they did talk it was a whisper.
other than that problem, the show was hilarious as always. i will definitely take part in dandilion day! i love when matt pretends to be andrew, it’s so funny. obama’s speech was awesome, great job laura and elysa!!
can’t wait till next episode

Don’t worry about it. It was a great episode overall. You guys never fail to make me laugh. I was listening to this episode during my fifteen minute trek across campus and at some points, I started to laugh. I’m sure people gave me some weird looks.

March 11th, 2009 on 7:40 PM
O poo, I still loved the episode. Keep it up guys.
March 11th, 2009 on 8:41 PM
oh well don’t worry. i’m sad but it’s okay. the first time it happened, i thought there was just a REALLY LONG silence and i began to laugh nervously sometime in the middle of it..
i have some stuff to say: what do you guys think of Obama signing the documents about stem cell research?
also, i have a Screw, Marry, Kill for Micah!

Even though the missing audio was slightly confusing the show was great.!!!! You gotta give props to Andrew because he has edited close to 200 of these types of shows and has only had one slight hiccup that made it to the air. Props to you, buddy
March 12th, 2009 on 5:24 AM
As much as it hurts me to say this, Andrew isn’t the one who edited this episode. the “hiccup” as you put it was definitely not his fault. I edited it. Mea Culpa:)
March 12th, 2009 on 8:14 AM
I really missed Andrew’s guidance in this episode – I kept thinking, “loud mouths” instead of “smart mouths” in this episode. Looking forward to Andrew’s return…
March 12th, 2009 on 3:37 PM
Too bad it was cut out. I blame you Penny D:<
…anyways I’m not mad. I still love you guys so keep the shows and Videos coming!
March 12th, 2009 on 10:22 PM
It’s all good. I thought the episode was great. I think that a youtube video should be made with all of the funny stuff from the “Obama speech. Loved it. lol
All of you are amazing.
March 13th, 2009 on 9:24 AM
Liked you discussion about diversity of opinion. You guys do a better job than most. I have listened to you all grow from the beginning of all three podcasts. Laura has done particularly great job guiding the “boys” into being admirable young men.
To keep my own personal balance, I have two favorite bumper stickers. I call them bumper stickers to live by; they are “Question Authority” and “Jesus was a liberal.” They have guided me well for over 60 years.

Looks like Obama took Elisa and Laura’s advice. He’s talking positively about the economy, lol. Maybe Obama is a listener of SM. xD

Hey you guys,
I love the show, especially the WTF news. I figured I can contribute to my favorite segment with this slightly disturbing yet intriguing. Hope it makes the show!

March 15th, 2009 on 9:13 AM
The audio issues may have been annoying at first but they didn’t take away from the hilarious show. Great job
March 15th, 2009 on 8:57 PM
Loved the show anyway, guys! Great job and keep ‘em coming!!!

Please…if you are going to do a Political Bitches “Rant”, be more clever. Or least don’t be so smug about how clever you think you are.

Another great and funny episode. The new segment that you had, I’ve played it before in high school. We called it “Two Truths and a Lie.” I think that’s a catchier title for the segment. But it’s up to you guys, of course.
I just want to comment some more on the gun control discussion you had. In high school government, we talked about how the second amendment could be interpreted two ways. One was that the founders intended the amendment to mean that the country has the right to an armed militia. The second interpretation was that the people, meaning the individual citizens, had the right to keep and own a gun. I guess that the word “people” in the amendment could be interpreted differently. The founders could have meant to refer to the country as a whole or to the individual citizens.
