On discussion of the Iranian election… There wasn’t like it was going to be a 90-10 win for Mousavi… it’s a split country, there’s still a lot support for Amedininitahsad (as you said) especially in the rural areas, most of the protests seem to be from northern Tehran, which isn’t the same as rural or even southern Tehran. I’m not saying there weren’t irregularities, knowing the result so early, such a large margin etc, but it still isn’t impossible that Mousavi would have lost. There was never going to be a very large win for anyone of them… But then again, Mousavi isn’t really such a big reformer anyway.

hey guys~ great show, as always.. just one comment on using skype to record these shows. that’s fine for me, but the only annoying thing about that is the volume levels. on this episode, micah and penny were loud and clear, but the rest of you all sounded low and tinny (elysa was especially hard to hear) — i was constantly adjusting the volume. if there is any way to remedy this, i would really appreciate it. thanks a lot for all your hard work!

also, i’m listening to mugglecast right now and you just said that it was recorded with skype too.. the sound quality on this one is perfect. idk if the smartmouths just don’t have as good equipment as the mugglecasters, but just fyi..

Andrew,I know you apologised, but like seriously.
“that’s so typically Irish”
Yep,typical of those Irish people, they’re always putting mice in their bread…
Damnit,we’ll never escape that steorotype!
Also,Ireland? Not so much…that incident occurred in Northern Ireland which is part of the United Kingdom.
&hearts the show! : )

Thought I would point out that as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly referred to as “Mormon”) that we haven’t practiced polygamy since 1890. The “extremists” groups that practice polygamy are not recognized by the LDS church. In fact, the largest of those groups packed up “en masse” and moved to Texas, since the State of Utah has cracked down recently on Polygamy. While I understand that Micah was just making a joke, I know none of you would imply that all Muslims are “extreme Wahhabi” followers. The LDS church has had enough prejudice over the last 140 years or so and thought I should clarify this statement. I do love the show and hope I didn’t sound too much like Sarah Palin here.

You guys should know better than to post video from Fox news. If you saw the complete video (which can be found on msnbc) of the Grandmother tasing incident you would see she was fully in the wrong also.

Haha I loved Elysa’s recommendation at the end. I bought that Rolling Stone issue specifically for the Adam article an it is indeed paper sex.

Hey guys, as a follow-up to your discussion last week of the Iranian election (which was brilliant, by the way), it thougth I’d point out this very interesting blog post by John Green. In it, he breaks down how the Iranian government may have rigged the votes. I think you’ll all find it very interesting.

I know I am a bit behind on podcasts but I had to say that I am one of those people who does not have a digital tv. But we really don’t watch much tv programing and I still knew about the conversion and had my conversion box last year. Anyone who watches tv had to have known about the conversion so to bad for them! Go read a book
