Just a message to Laura and Alysa
I just wanted to say thanks for getting me onto the issues in Darfur. I have based my entire research project on the issue and I now I understand your anger and passion about the situation.
I have gone back (no I understand in detail) and listened to your previous discussions.
Its amazing that something this horrible gets so little publicity. No one I know has heard about Darfur, let alone what is happening there.
Well anyway, I better not get on a rant, but thanks again

i hate to sound ignorant and extremely slow but is Micah Jewish???
June 23rd, 2009 on 6:14 PM
Micah jewish? good question. I hope he clears that up.
June 23rd, 2009 on 6:19 PM
I really loved the Dr Smartmouths this episode. Greg really cracked me up.

Hey I just wanted to clear something up for you guys. If you need a liver transplant or any other transplant, no matter who you are, you cannot be bumped up the list. If a celebrity wants a legal transplant, they have to wait their turn.
I’m pretty sure Micah’s Jewish. Keep up the great job smartmouth’s!

Hey its me. the anonymous person again. I was so glad you read my email except I sounded like an ignorant, heartless, bitch. Sorry, I’m going to try and clear that up without sounding stupid. Ofcourse Im not going to tell that girls family that cancer is stupid. Its not. And if I said that in my previous email, sorry. I know people get cancer and that terrible. What I mean when I was saying that was that I dont care if I get cancer, because most people don get cancer when their 15. Of course like you said I probably will care later on so maybe I should stop being so immature and shut up. The point I was trying to make is that the kids that currently smoke dont care about what will happen to them twenty years later. Oh and I’m from NY. Micah’s area specifically. Like I said before, I havent seen these commecials and maybe I might change my mind but of course not everyone else is going to? Some people just dont care that they might die really quick. Their dying right now so why stop smoking. Hopefully I explaind myself better. I really didnt mean to say that i dont care about cancer.

This is going to keep bugging me till I fix it. I meant in the above comment, ‘Their NOT dying right now so why stop smoking.’ And while I’m here I might as well add, people who drink are more likely to get into accidents and make mistakes but I dont see anyone [who actually drinks] watch some news report about someone who died because of drunk driving and say ‘oh hey, somebody just died because they were driving while drunk. You know what I’ll stop drinking so much’ Anyways I hope you understand what I’m saying.
June 24th, 2009 on 12:07 PM
yeah, I see where “Me” is coming from. If someone told me that something might happen to me if 5, or ten years, i probably wouldn’t care either. I just turned thirteen, and I completely understand where you are coming from.

Great episode!
June 25th, 2009 on 5:26 PM
Hi! I just wanted to say I really liked the new politics and world news segment (how it was more roundup styled). I love how it allows you to cover more subjects while still giving good opinions on all of them. I think it is better than just covering one orf two stories in depth. Just wanted to pass on this positive feedback. The rest of the show is great, as well!
June 26th, 2009 on 3:58 AM
Hey, have you seen this news article?
New details about Michael Jackson’s Death Emerge
I was wondering if you were going to blog about this…

Regarding the smoking adverts:
I dont think they’re supposed to “cure” people who are already smoking, as much as make smoking look less attractive to people who havent started.
Tobacco, and more specifically nicotine, is highly addictive (yeah I know that’s a shock
), and I doubt if very many people would be able to break their addiction by looking at an advert (Governments and Health Groups have been trying this for years now).
However changing the perception that smoking is “cool”, helps prevent the young people getting sucked in, and any costs involved in this kind of advertising may pay for themselves by avoiding future health cost drains on the state.
June 29th, 2009 on 9:18 AM
What’s with all the annoying sound effects? It’s really corny.
July 13th, 2009 on 12:13 PM
The mail you read on the show about the young girl & cancer (as well as her comments above) just make me so very sad. I have never smoked (I am in my 30’s) but my mother-in-law passed away from lung cancer 3 years ago after quitting smoking 10 years before. The cancer had already spread so far that she was gone in less than a year after finding out. Needless to say, my two young children have a concrete example of what happens to people who smoke but they had to pay a heavy price.
